What it does
Registration and profiles
A four-step registration wizard (profile, waiver with guardian consent for minors, background-check information, interests), passwordless one-time-code sign-in, custom fields and group registration.
Scheduling and shift sign-up
Public search by age, type of work, shift length, date and location. A guided sign-up checks conflicts and requirements, waitlists fill themselves, and volunteers add shifts to their calendar.
QR check-in and kiosk
Volunteers show the badge QR code from their portal or a printed badge. The kiosk registers walk-ups, marks no-shows and shows live counts per site on big event days.
Hours tracking and reports
Hours flow from check-in and check-out, with staff approval for self-reported and manual entries. A four-step report builder, recognition tiers and the dollar value of volunteer time at the Independent Sector rate.
Compliance records
Waivers, certifications, trainings with quizzes, and manual background-check clearance entry with dates and notes. Volunteers are reminded automatically before anything expires.
Email and SMS messaging
Individual and mass messages filtered by opportunity, event, shift, interest or compliance status, plus automatic sign-up, waitlist and reminder notices. Opt-outs are respected.
Role-based staff access and SAML SSO
Administrators, division-scoped coordinators, site leads and read-only analysts each see only what they need. Staff single sign-on runs through the organization’s identity provider over SAML 2.0 or OpenID Connect (simulated in the prototype).
CSV/Excel import and data export
Legacy records import from CSV with validation, duplicate detection and historical hours. Every report and list exports to Excel-ready CSV, and administrators can export all data at any time.

The prototype runs in the browser over synthetic data, and messages go to an on-screen outbox. A production deployment would run the same engine behind authenticated APIs with a managed database.
